Will Kansas baseball host a NCAA regional? Here are a few projections
· Yahoo Sports
LAWRENCE — There aren’t going to be many teams heading into the NCAA tournament with the kind of momentum Kansas baseball has.
The Jayhawks (42-16) have captured both the Big 12 Conference regular season and tournament titles. In recent weeks, they’ve been faced with adversity on the field and still been able to overcome it. They’ve set themselves up, after securing the Big 12 tournament championship Saturday in Surprise, Arizona, as a likely host for a NCAA regional.

But with the list of 16 hosts of NCAA regional hosts set to be announced Sunday at 7:30 p.m. (CT), are projections positioning KU in that way? Are they rewarding Kansas for its success this season? Are they questioning the Jayhawks because of some of the ups and downs it’s experienced?
Here’s a look at some projections, as of Sunday morning, for where Kansas stands in the field of 64:
Kansas baseball NCAA tournament projections
Baseball America: No. 1 seed in Lawrence regional
Kansas is going to be the host of this four-team regional, in this projection. KU, the top seed, also welcomes No. 2 seed Wake Forest, No. 3 seed Campbell and No. 4 seed Milwaukee. The Jayhawks have already been making alterations to Hoglund Ballpark, to be prepared for a NCAA regional, and those efforts don’t look like they’ll be for nothing.
On3: No. 1 seed in Lawrence regional
Kansas also hosts this four-team regional, in this projection. KU, again the top seed, would bring in No. 2 seed Wake Forest, No. 3 seed Troy and No. 4 seed Yale. Winning both the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles seems to have assured the Jayhawks of a NCAA regional in Lawrence.
USA TODAY: No. 1 seed in Lawrence regional
Kansas would be a host in the four-team regional that would play out in Lawrence. This projection doesn’t lay out which teams that KU, the top seed in that regional, would join the Jayhawks. However, it’s another example of how well Kansas is viewed nationally.
