Porter, 38, has been on the Gunners' coaching staff since 2017 and has progressed from the academy set-up to taking charge of the under-21 side last season.

He will join James Rowberry, Ryan Shawcross and Darren Behcet in Robins' support team at the bet365 Stadium as the Potters rebuild for next season.

The Championship club finished 17th last season having had an excellent start to the campaign.

Stoke sporting director Jonathan Walters said Porter had "built a reputation as one of the brightest young coaches in the game" and had played a key role in "the development of a number of exceptional young players at Arsenal".

"Max is another important appointment, we're excited to see the impact he can make," Walters added.

Porter's arrival follows that of new technical director Stuart Harvey from Sunderland last month.
