Pedro Neto’s hat-trick and a goal from Estevao sealed Chelsea’s place in the next round, while Liverpool handled tougher opposition in Brighton with a confident performance at Anfield. Both teams now look towards making a real push for the cup.
Since both Liverpool and Chelsea are out of contention for the Premier League title and the Champions League – the most challenging competition they were both still in – does not seem realistic, the FA Cup now represents their strongest chance for a title.
After Liverpool’s win over Brighton, Mo Salah was asked about his team’s chances of winning the FA Cup, and he pointed out one player who could be crucial if they are going to get past Chelsea.

Salah praised the Hungarian midfielder after the match, describing him as vital to Liverpool’s FA Cup hopes and calling him one of the best players in the world at the moment.
“It’s going to depend on his [Szoboszlai’s] performance [if Liverpool win the cup], because we rely on him. He’s one of the best players in the world. It’s great to win trophies, hopefully we can do it again,” he stated.

Szoboszlai moved from Salzburg to Leipzig before joining Liverpool in 2023, following a common path for talented players. Since his arrival at Anfield, he has been a standout performer, but his current season’s form has been truly exceptional.
