3 offseason roster moves that would impact AFC West fantasy values

Did 2025 mark a changing-of-the-guard in the AFC West? Denver broke Kansas City’s nine-year division title streak. That translated into fantasy land, where playmakers on the Broncos (as well as the Chargers and Raiders) frequently outperformed the Chiefs’ historically vaunted offense. Looking ahead to the 2026 season, here are three near-term moves that would significantly impact AFC West players’ fantasy values.

Kansas City’s backfield hasn’t been in this much transition since 2020, when they invested a first-round draft pick on Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who many believed would be a fantasy force for years. It hasn’t worked out that way. So now the Chiefs are going back to the drawing board, which might mean investing another first-rounder on a franchise RB. Their running back decisions these next few months will determine whether fantasy managers can go all in on a bell cow.

Denver is facing its own backfield quandary, though the stakes are lower. RJ Harvey showed enough to start next season as no less than the 1A back. His bell-cow upside hinges on who’s joining that corps. Will they re-sign JK Dobbins, or if not, will his replacement be another workhorse-caliber RB or strictly a complementary piece? Harvey’s preseason stock will rise or fall as a result.

Meanwhile, the Raiders have one of the least fantasy-friendly WR units, at least on paper. If the season started today, presumably none of their players would crack the top 50 WRs. Tre Tucker can barely be considered the #1 wideout. It’s more of a Brock-Bowers-or-bust aerial attack. Assuming they draft QB Fernando Mendoza with the #1 overall pick, they might pair him with a high-impact receiver. If they don’t, then Mendoza’s Year 1 upside would be severely capped.
