Loaded handgun seized during drug bust; suspects sought after Earlscourt assault

A 27-year-old Toronto man has been charged with gun and drug offences after a loaded handgun and cocaine were seized last week in North York.

Toronto Police said officers executed a search warrant Friday in the Jane St.-Wilson Ave. area of North York as part of a drug-trafficking investigation by the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force.
Police then allegedly seized the handgun and a “quantity of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.”
Joshua Samuels was charged with possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm knowing its possession is prohibited, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and three counts of failure to comply with a weapons prohibition order.
2 charged, 2 others wanted in assault probe
A man and a woman are facing assault charges as police continue to track down two other suspects linked to an attack in the Earlscourt area that left the victim seriously injured.
Toronto Police said they responded to an assault call on Feb. 9 at about 8:45 p.m. in the St. Clair Ave. W.-Dufferin St. area, where the victim had met up with four people outside of his building.
Police said the suspects fled from the area after the victim was assaulted, leaving him with serious injuries that required hospitalization.
Lino Pagano, 63, and Linda Elmaleh, 57, both of Toronto, were arrested on Feb. 10 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. Elmaleh was also charged with failure to comply with a probation order.
Police are also looking for a clean-shaven male suspect with a medium build who is about 30-40 years old. He was wearing a blue baseball hat, a dark jacket with a white stripe across the chest, grey pants and black shoes with white soles.
The second male suspect has a medium build, blond hair and is about 50-60 years old. He was wearing a blue medical mask, a black jacket, blue jeans and brown boots.

Assault charge at downtown rally
A 33-year-old Toronto man has been charged with assault after an incident on Friday at a downtown demonstration.
Toronto Police said officers were in the Yonge-Bloor Sts. area that day to keep an eye on a rally when the accused allegedly approached the victim at about 3:30 p.m. and assaulted him.
Police said the victim had been protesting in the area.
Maury Cheskes was also charged with failure to comply with a probation order.
