Brazilian forward Gabi Portilho traded from NJ/NY Gotham FC to San Diego Wave FC

Brazilian international forward Gabi Portilho has been traded from NJ/NY Gotham FC to the San Diego Wave FC in exchange for $175,000 in transfer funds.

“Gabi is an impactful attacking player with championship experience, and we’re excited to welcome her to San Diego,” said San Diego Wave Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton. “She’s a versatile player who competes at a high level on both sides of the ball. Gabi has consistently performed on the biggest stages for club and country, and her quality, work rate, and winning mentality will elevate our attacking group and add another competitive edge to our squad.”

Portilho joined Gotham in 2025, helping Gotham to their NWSL Championship win and CONCACAF W Champions Cup Win. She had 17 appearances and 11 starts for the club, and contributed three goals and three assists.

She previously played for Corinthians, Kindermann-Avaí, São José, Audax, and 3B da Amazônia in Brazil, and Madrid CFF in Spain. Portilho recently played against her former club Corinthians in the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in London; Gotham lost the match 1-0.

Internationally, 30-year-old Portilho plays regularly on the Brazil National Team. With Brazil, Portilho has won the Copa América in 2025 and earned a silver medal at the 2024 Olympics.
