Man United continue incredible record from Boxing Day

Manchester United fans went home happy again on Sunday afternoon, a familiar feeling since Michael Carrick became interim boss in January.

The Red Devils have won a highly impressive six matches out of seven since Carrick took charge.

Yesterday, they showed great resilience to see off a stubborn Crystal Palace side 2-1.

11 matches unbeaten

The result means that they have now gone 11 matches unbeaten in the league.

The Red Devils did taste defeat in the FA Cup against Brighton & Hove Albion when Darren Fletcher was in charge.

Nonetheless, the last time they lost in the league was a 2-1 defeat at Villa Park to Aston Villa. Even this game can be considered unlucky, as they played quite well and easily could have snatched a draw from the match.

United have been unbeaten since Boxing Day, when they beat Newcastle United 1-0.

They did have a few disappointing results to finish Ruben Amorim’s time as boss.

The Portuguese head coach oversaw a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers and another 1-1 draw away at Leeds United.

Fletcher’s only Premier League match in charge was a 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Carrick has managed to defeat an impressive group of teams, including Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Palace.

Unique

Interestingly, United are the only team in the league unbeaten since Boxing Day, taking 25 points from these matches.

The Red Devils have some way to go to catch the top, as the 2003-2004 Arsenal side went 49 matches unbeaten.

United have also done significantly better in the past, going 29 matches unbeaten under Sir Alex Ferguson between the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 seasons.

They also achieved this in the 2010-2011 campaign.

The Old Trafford side also hold the Premier League record for most consecutive away days without a loss: 29 matches between the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
