WEATHER: Violent thunderstorms threaten parts of SA

KWAZULU-NATAL
The western and southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal have been issued a Yellow Level 1 warning. Severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours are expected, which could lead to localised flooding. Hail and excessive lightning are also predicted.
DURBAN
KZN’s largest city, Durban, will experience partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers. Temperatures are expected to range from a minimum of 22°C to a maximum of 32°C.
NORTH WEST
The North West province is under a Level 2 warning, with heavy downpours that may lead to localised flooding of susceptible roads, settlements, and low-lying areas. Residents in the south to central parts of the province should brace for thunderstorms.
MAHIKENG
Mahikeng will see cloudy conditions with scattered showers and thundershowers. Temperatures are expected to drop to a low of 17°C and reach a high of 24°C.
FREE STATE
An Orange Level 5 warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued for the western parts of the Free State. Heavy downpours could result in flooding of roads, settlements, and low-lying areas. Damaging winds, significant amounts of small hail, and excessive lightning are also expected.
BLOEMFONTEIN
Bloemfontein will experience cloudy conditions with scattered showers and thundershowers. Temperatures will range from a low of 15°C to a high of 26°C.
