Orlando Pirates midfielder Sipho Mbule’s future at the club remains uncertain, according to reports.

The 27-year-old midfielder made just two appearances in 2026 and has been left out of the Buccaneers’ last four matches.

There have been speculations that the “Master Chef” had a fallout with head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, but his agent Mike Makaab has since denied the claims.

He said the main reason why Mbule has been limited to only two appearances for Pirates since the league resumed was that the midfielder was struggling with a niggling injury.

In terms of his contract, the Bafana Bafana star only signed a one-year deal with the Soweto giants.

“Orlando Pirates have until the end of May to exercise an option and have an option for a further two years,” Makaab confirmed to the Siya crew.

Mbule not in the Pirates squads recently

Last month, former Pirates winger Tlou Segolela felt Mbule’s omission from the team was tactical rather than personal.

“He is a coach who values energetic and diligent players, and Mbule tends to bring that element, capable of dictating the pace of the game,” said the ex-Pirates star.

“The key factors are statistics. If you are not providing assists, not scoring, and not winning the ball, it is unlikely you will start or feature regularly,” Segolela told KickOff.

Since joining Pirates as a free agent, Mbule has fought his way back into the Bafana Bafana team. He was part of the squad which reached the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

His omission from the Bucs squad could jeopardise his chances of making the World Cup team in June.
