Minutes later, Italy took a 3-0 advantage thanks to a two-run shot from Sam Antonacci. Both teams entered the day unbeaten in Pool B play.
Teel, 24, starred at Mahwah on the diamond and on the gridiron as the Thunderbirds quarterback. He went on to Virginia to play baseball, later being drafted 14th overall by the Boston Red Sox in the 2023 MLB Draft.
He was traded in 2024 in a deal that brought back Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox.
