The Detroit Red Wings shared several injury updates before Thursday’s Atlantic Division matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa.
Head coach Todd McLellan addressed the status of three key players: Dylan Larkin, Andrew Copp, and David Perron. The update clarified timelines as Detroit prepares for a crucial stretch of the season.

“I’ll give you an update,” McLellan told reporters. “Andrew and Dylan are going to be two weeks, but we’ll reassess them then. And David Perron, we’re shooting for a week.”

Larkin remains sidelined with a right leg injury suffered on March 6 during a game against the Florida Panthers. The Red Wings captain lost an edge while taking a shot, and his leg buckled awkwardly on the play. He has already missed two games.

Copp also suffered a leg injury against Florida earlier this week. The center became tangled with Panthers forward Tomas Nosek during a faceoff, and the collision forced him out of the game. Both Copp and Larkin will miss about two weeks before the team reevaluates their status.
McLellan admitted the timeline offers some relief after the initial concern.
“Just with Andrew and Dylan, both concerning how bad it looked initially, is it a relief that… Two weeks is still two weeks,” he said. “They’re both very good players. We’d like to have them in the lineup.”
“If all goes well with recovery, we hope we have them back in that timeframe. They don’t lose a lot of conditioning or timing, if you will. As it goes longer, you run into having to get them back up into speed and get their lungs and their legs back.”

Meanwhile, Perron could return sooner. The veteran winger continues to recover from sports hernia surgery performed in January.
Detroit enters Thursday’s game with a 36-22-7 record and remains in the playoff race. The Lightning hold a 39-20-4 mark and already defeated Detroit 6-3 in the previous meeting this season.
