The Jaguars signed Gardeck to a two-year deal worth $6.5 million, which includes $3.15 million in guarantees.
Of that total guaranteed figure, $1.75 million is in the form of a signing bonus. The cap hit from that amount will be prorated over the life of the contract. Gardeck's $1.4 million base salary in 2026 is guaranteed as well. He also has the opportunity to earn per-game roster bonuses each season.
To help lower Gardeck's cap hit, the Jaguars utilized three void years. These void years are not an extension, but rather a bookkeeping measure that puts more years on the contract on paper. Gardeck is still set to be a free agent in 2028, at which point the cap charges from the void years, which total $1.05 million, will accelerate and come due as dead cap.
Dennis Gardeck's salary cap hits on new deal with Jaguars
- 2026: $2.10 million
- 2027: $3.35 million
This is a small enough deal that, whether or not Gardeck is on the roster in 2028, the salary cap ramifications of either outcome will be relatively easy for the Jaguars to take on.
Listed as a linebacker, the majority of Gardeck's snaps came as a pass rusher, although he saw opportunities at linebacker as well. Gardeck finished the season with 25 pressures, three sacks, and 35 total tackles.
He was also a core special teams contributor, playing 283 snaps across five of the six different phases.
