The Boston Red Sox are getting ready for the Major League Baseball season, and that means roster cuts and players being reassigned to minor league camp.

On Friday, the Red Sox reassigned Jacob Webb to minor league camp. The Red Sox announced that after the move, they have 58 players left at Major League Spring Training camp, including 17 non-roster invitees.

Webb has not had the strongest spring. He was a non-roster invitee and has thrown 5 1/3 innings this spring. He has a 13.50 ERA after allowing two home runs and eight earned runs. The 26-year-old may not have had the best big league camp, but he has shown promise in the minor leagues.

The Red Sox drafted him in the 14th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, and he reached Triple-A last season. However, he needs more time in Triple-A before he is ready for the big leagues. He threw in nine games in Triple-A last season and had a 6.35 ERA. However, he thrived in Double-A and High-A last season.

He had a 3.26 ERA in Double-A and a 0.93 ERA in High-A. His success in other levels seems to indicate that with some more time, he could soon start to see better results in Triple-A.

He spent some time on the injured list with an oblique strain last season. However, he has a chance to establish himself in Triple-A this season. If he can put up decent numbers, the Red Sox could call him up in case of an injury or if the bullpen needs a fresh arm.
