Alexander Nübel asked about fellow Bayern Munich, Germany keeper

At a press conference between Germany’s two friendlies this weekend, Bayern Munich loanee and Stuttgart’s number one keeper, Alexander Nübel, fielded some questions ahead of his start for the national team. He was asked about another Bayern keeper, Jonas Urbig — specifically whether he thinks he would train with him at FC Bayern.

Nübel responded with, “The chances are relatively high, because I’m still under contract at FC Bayern. I got to know him and he’s a very good guy, very mature for his age. Unfortunately he left the camp, but what I saw was very good.”

Depending on what Manuel Neuer and Bayern decide on his future, these two keepers could be part of Bayern’s future plans at keeper. Depending on what they decide, we could see Urbig and Nübel not only training with each other at Säbenerstraße but also competing for the number one spot.

Monday’s friendly was Nübel’s third cap with the senior national team, though he has been called into several camps over the last couple years without an appearance. This was Urbig’s first Germany senior team camp.
