Bengaluru Rail Division Sets New Benchmarks in Revenue, Safety, and Passenger Services

Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru held a press conference at Bengaluru Divisional office today to brief the media about various achievements of Bengaluru Division during the Financial Year 2025-26.

He informed that during the Financial Year 2025-26, doubling and electrification works between Belandur Road - Carmelaram covering 3.522 km, and Makkajipalli – Nagasamudram – Dharmavaram covering 28.600 km has been commissioned.
A new railway line between Tumkur, Urukere and Thimmarajanahalli, spanning 24 km, has also been completed. The 3rd and 4th lines between Bengaluru Cantonment and Baiyyappanahalli West covering 4.92 km, have been commissioned.
Sectional speed has been increased to 130 kmph in the Yelahanka – Dharmavaram section (161 km). Speed has also been raised to 110 kmph in the Chikkaballapur – Chintamani and Baiyyappanahalli – Omalur sections (131 km).
To enhance safety for both road and rail users, level crossing gates are being eliminated through the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs). During the financial year 2025–26, a total of 8 level crossings were eliminated, 4 ROBs and 10 Road Under Bridges were commissioned at various locations.
To improve connectivity and passenger convenience, several new train services have been introduced, including Vande Bharat services from Bengaluru to Belagavi and Ernakulam, an Amrit Bharat weekly train between SMVT Bengaluru and Alipurduar, Express trains towards Gwalior, Balurghat, and Radhikapur.
In addition, 18 train services have been extended, including 7 pairs of Express trains, 1 pair of MEMU services, and 1 pair of Express Special trains.
Further, to improve efficiency and reduce travel time, the speeds of 106 trains have been enhanced.
• Bengaluru Division has achieved a record Ticket Checking Revenue of Rs. 39.68 crore, surpassing the previous best of Rs. 37.83 crore.
• Parcel Revenue has reached Rs. 140.31 crore, improving over the earlier best of Rs. 134.20 crore.
• Goods Revenue has also shown strong growth, touching Rs. 351.07 crore, compared to the previous best of Rs. 327.74 crore.
• In catering services, the Division has earned Rs. 17.37 crore, exceeding the earlier record of Rs. 16.51 crore.
• Passenger Revenue has reached an all-time high of Rs. 2420.55 crore, surpassing the previous best of Rs. 2219.67 crore.
• On the freight side, Bengaluru Division has achieved loading of 2.13 million tonnes, improving over last year’s 2.07 million tonnes.
• The Division has recorded the highest ever rake loading of 2,681 rakes, which is 20% increase over the previous best.
• Container loading reached a record 0.765 million tonnes, showing a 14% growth over last year.
• Similarly, POL loading has achieved a highest ever figure of 0.669 million tonnes, with a strong 47% increase.
• Bengaluru Division was the first to introduce Mobile UTS Sahayak as Pilot Project over Indian Railways. The pilot project was commissioned on 30.10.2025. At present 04 M-UTS Sahayaks are operational at KSR Bengaluru City station.
• A Third Rail Coach Restaurant is under commissioning at KSR Bengaluru Station to enhance passenger experience.
• The Namma Nakshe App has been introduced at all 14 major stations, helping passengers with easy navigation and access to station facilities.
• Bengaluru Division has ensured 100% implementation of QR code-based complaint system through RailMadad in catering services, making it easier for passengers to lodge complaints.
• QR-based Identity Cards for Catering Vendors have also been successfully implemented as per Railway Board guidelines.
• Additionally, for the first time in South Western Railway, a contract has been awarded for the development of a Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal at Hanakere on a Public-Private Partnership model to M/s Ultratech Cement Ltd. on 19.02.2026.
Bengaluru Division has a very robust passenger/rail service users' grievance redressal mechanism.
• A RailMadad war-room is functional at the Divisional office manned round the clock by staff from various departments.
• Complaints/ grievances from rail passengers and other railway users received through various sources viz. RailMadad app, Social media, microblogging sites etc. are being monitored closely and resolved on real time basis.
• Due to consistent monitoring and prompt and astute grievance resolution mechanism adopted by the Division, there has been a reduction in grievances received by about 18% during the 2025-26 compared to the corresponding period of 2024-25.
• In order to cater to extra rush of passengers during festival and holiday season, 4706 trips of Exp./TOD/Other special trains were run during 2025-26 as compared to 4210 trips during 2024-25 and 5220 extra coaches were attached as compared to 1797 during the corresponding period of last year.
• Upalabdh (Action against Touts)
During the Financial Year 2025-26, Begaluru Division registered a total of 144 cases, seized 277 live tickets valued at Rs. 4,08.752/- and arrested 144 persons.
• Nanhe Farishtey (Rescue of children in need of care and protection)
A total of 407 children (311 boys and 96 girls) were rescued and subsequently reunited with their families through the Child Welfare Committee.
• Dignity (Rescue of adults including women in need of care and protection)
RPF/Bengaluru rescued 16 Males and 11 females who were in need of care and protection and reunited them with their families after proper counselling through NGOs.
• 14 trains previously hauled by diesel traction have been converted to electric traction, resulting in an annual saving of Rs. 43.73 crore.
• Twenty sportspersons of the Bengaluru Division participated in various International and National championships and won accolades, making the division proud.
