Bhind (Madhya Pradesh): Hanuman Jayanti is being celebrated with huge devotion and gaiety in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.

The famous Rawatpura Devasthanam in Lahar of Bhind and Shri Hanuman Tekri in Guna dating back to the Mahabharata period hosted grand celebrations for Hanuman Jayanti.

Here, devotees collectively recited Hanuman Chalisa over 1.25 crore times from their homes, as part of the ongoing rituals.

The day began at 4 am with a Mahabhishek (grand ritual bath) of Lord Hanuman, followed by a special Mahaarati. 

At 8:30 am, Shri Hanumat Lakshyarchan was performed with one lakh bananas, various fruits, fragrant flowers and other offerings.

1.25 lakh laddoos offered

A total of 1.25 lakh laddoos were offered as prasad and distributed among devotees. 

Later in the day, Shri Sundarkand recitation will take place, and in the evening at 7 pm, Maa Rajrajeshwari Dwadash Lakshyarchan (12 lakh offerings) and a special ritual will be conducted. 

This would be followed by Bhandara prasad distribution, which is expected to attract thousands of devotees.

Additionally, thousands of devotees thronged the historic Shri Hanuman Tekri temple, located about 5 km from Guna headquarters. 

The temple, dating back over 1,200 years, is situated on a high hill and houses an ancient south-facing idol of Lord Hanuman.

The site is believed to be a center of meditation and penance for saints, and legend says Karṇ also performed penance here. 

During temple renovations, saints’ memorials and gold coins were discovered.

For the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, the temple is decorated with flowers and lights, and a Mahaarati will be held at 5 am. 

Devotees from across the region are expected to attend the 3-day fair, organised with grand preparations by the district administration and temple trust.
