Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Rumors
Chicago Hockey Now: Sacha Boisvert’s first NHL goal proved to be the game-winner, as the Blackhawks snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Seattle Kraken. It was also their first win at Climate Pledge Arena since 2021, snapping a six-game skid in that building.
Kevin Korchinski tallied the primary assist on Boisvert’s game-winning tally in the third period and has played a clean first four games back with the Blackhawks. He led the team with a 72.44 on-ice expected goals percentage at 5-on-5 on Saturday.
In those four appearances, Korchinski hasn’t been on the ice for a single goal against and has a 52.81 expected goals percentage. He’s done well to skate the puck out of harm’s way in the defensive zone and hasn’t made any major blunders. The 2022 No. 7 overall pick, who’s still only 21 years old, is starting to show noticeable progress in the big leagues.
Kevin Korchinski led the Blackhawks with a 72.44 on-ice 5v5 expected goals percentage tonight, according to Natural Stat Trick.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
The Athletic: What in the world? With just four games left in the regular season, the New York Islanders decided now was the best time to let go of head coach Patrick Roy. The Isles fired Roy on Sunday and named Pete DeBoer as his replacement, while also signing a contract through the 2029-30 season. This feels even more ridiculous than Vegas firing Bruce Cassidy one week ago.
Detroit Hockey Now: Patrick Kane went from hero to zero real quick on Sunday, as he took a costly penalty just moments after scoring the game-tying goal. The Minnesota Wild cashed in on their ensuing power play for the game-winner late in the third period, defeating the Detroit Red Wings 5-4. It’s the fourth straight loss for the Wings, who remain two points back of a playoff spot.
Montreal Hockey Now: For the second season in a row, the Montreal Canadiens have qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Habs officially punched their ticket into the postseason with the Red Wings’ loss to Minnesota on Sunday.
NHL.com: Robert Thomas recorded his first career NHL hat trick to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Don’t look now, but the Blues are only three points back of the second Wild Card playoff spot in the Western Conference with six games to go.
Philly Hockey Now: Porter Martone picked quite the time to pot his first NHL goal, scoring the overtime winner on Sunday to help the Philadelphia Flyers take down the Boston Bruins. With the victory, the Flyers are now in third place in the Metropolitan Division.
Boston Hockey Now: While the Boston Bruins lost in overtime, they still picked up a huge point to help their playoff chances. The Bruins remain in the top Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference and have a six-point cushion over the Islanders.
Sportsnet: The Ottawa Senators’ stars came to life again on Sunday, with Brady Tkachuk scoring twice, while Tim Stutzle, Shane Pinto, and Dylan Cozens each tallied two points in a 6-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. With the win, the Sens jumped into the second Wild Card spot in the East and have a one-point edge over the Islanders.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Pittsburgh Penguins have a decision to make on Evgeni Malkin’s future this summer, but here’s a strong case for why “Geno” should return for the 2026-27 season.
