The school announced on April 13 that the softball field will now be named Lori Troescher Field. Troescher led the Mustangs softball program for 26 years, compiling a 297-173 record.

Troescher was the Enquirer's 1995 Coach of the Year after leading the Mustangs to the OHSAA State Softball Tournament, making Western Hills the only Cincinnati Public School to qualify for state. She also earned Conference Coach of the Year honors 10 times throughout her career.

Troescher was inducted into the Western Hills Hall of Honor in 2004 for her contributions to the school. In addition to coaching softball, Troescher spent time as the volleyball coach and started the girls bowling program in 2005. From 1998 to 2010, she was the assistant athletic director as well. Troescher remains a teacher at Western Hills, a position she has held since 1984.

The field was dedicated in 2019 to Gabrielle Rodriguez, a Western Hills softball player who was killed in a hit-and-run accident before school. Rodriguez had asked for a field to be built after winning the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference, as the team had previously played at a nearby elementary school field.

The Mustangs announced a special ceremony will be held before their April 13 home game against Withrow. The renaming ceremony will begin at 4 p.m., with the game set to begin at 5 p.m. Troescher will throw out the ceremonial first pitch
