The weather may have other plans though as storms move through New York City.
It's not a guarantee that the game doesn't start at its scheduled 1:35 p.m., but the Yanks were already warning fans well ahead of time.
They wrote on social media on Sunday morning:
"As of 10:25 a.m., please be advised we do not anticipate starting today's game on time due to the current forecast of inclement weather. We will provide an update as more information is received."
There had been no further update by 12:45 p.m.

Why is Yankees-Royals delayed?
If the game does indeed open in a delay, it'll be due to that anticipated inclement weather that the Yankees were already expecting Sunday morning.
The last thing they'd want would be to play an inning or two and then go into a long delay. That could mess with the starting pitchers, Ryan Weathers and Cole Ragans, and make the day a bit tougher on everyone involved.

When is Yankees-Royals going to actually start?
The radar seems to show the storms moving past by 4 p.m.:
Looks like approx. a 2.5-hour delay. As of now, the game should start, give or take, around 4 PM, hopefully.

If the teams are willing to wait it out, that might be the best bet.
