Each year in April, thousands of runners and volunteers take to the streets of Oklahoma City to remember the lives lost in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, and the resilience of a city that now marks the occasion with a marathon.

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, now in its 26th year, takes place over the weekend of April 24-26. Last year, the race drew more than 26,000 entrants, a record for one of the nation's most respected marathons.
Here's what to know about the Run to Remember.
When is the OKC Memorial Marathon?
The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon includes events taking place over three days, from Friday, April 24, until Sunday, April 26. The OKC Memorial Museum will be open for free to those with a racing bib or confirmation of a race registration.
Races on Saturday include the Memorial 5K, senior marathon and kids marathon. The health and fitness expo will be open again on Saturday, along with free admission to the museum.
The main event happens on Sunday. Runners for the OKC Memorial Marathon can attend a 5 a.m. runner's mass at St. Joseph's Old Cathedral before a sunrise service at the Survivor Tree and pancake breakfast.
At 6:15 a.m. Sunday morning, runners will participate in 168 seconds of silence to remember those lost in the bombing. The full marathon begins at 6:30 a.m.
OKC marathon route
The full marathon will begin outside of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, which is between 5th and 6th streets on Harvey Avenue.
After a circuit around downtown OKC, the route then heads north, passing through Bricktown and Deep Deuce before crossing behind the Oklahoma Capitol.
From there, the marathon will venture further north to the Nichols Hills and Britton neighborhoods. On the return leg, runners will pass by Lake Hefner and run down Classen Boulevard until they again reach downtown to complete 26.2 miles.
The race will end near Scissortail Park.

Fans and family members can track runners using the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon app. Users can follow their runner’s real-time progress throughout the course and receive a notification when they’ve crossed the finish line.
