Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver signs with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

· Yahoo Sports

The Oklahoma Sooners had a total of seven players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, which ranks as the most in the Brent Venables era. However, OU had a number of other players eligible to be picked that did not hear their names called, and they'll be looking to break into the league in a different way.

One such player is wide receiver Keontez Lewis, who has signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. Lewis was well-traveled in his collegiate career, spending time at UCLA, Wisconsin, and Southern Illinois, before spending his final year at Oklahoma.

Lewis won one of the starting WR jobs last fall, but he only played in nine games, making seven starts, due to injuries. When he was on the field, he was a reliable possession receiver for the OU offense, and he was missed on the outside when he was unable to play.

Lewis caught 21 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns in 2025 with the Sooners, and he'll now try to fight for a roster spot with the Bucs, where he'll look to catch passes from former OU legend Baker Mayfield. While it'll be an uphill battle for Lewis, he'll still have a shot to make it to the NFL if he can impress in Tampa.
