No. 1 seed Riverside piled 15 hits and struck out Lady Eagles eight times April 24 in an 11-0 win that put the brakes on St. John’s 2026 season in five innings.
The loss denied No. 9 seed SJHS a trip to the Divisin IV Select semifinal round in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Fast Pitch 56 championship tournament that begins Friday at Frasch Park in Sulphur.
Riverside Academy pitcher Kamryn Cancienne struck out eight and held St. John to three hits across five innings.
She struck out two Lady Eagles in the top of the first and two of the three at-bat in the third.
An Aubrey Purpera double and singles by Charli Neumann and Madelyn Hedges comprised the SJHS offense.
The Hedges single in the top of the fifth was sandwiched between strikeouts of the first two Lady Eagles at-bat and one more that sent St. John back on the field.
A Jaci Bordelon two-run double in the bottom of the fifth ended the game on the 10-run rule.
A Kenzie Granier run put the Rebels ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, but the Lady Rebels broke the lead wide open in the next frame on an Olivia St. Pierre grand slam that scored Keryn Milazzo, Sophie Millioto and Cam Larose
A Layla Price two-run double in the bottom of the third widened the gap for Riverside.
The Lady Rebels notched two more off a Price single in the fourth before Neumann struck out Milazzo to retire the side.
St. John ended its 2026 season 19-13.
Riverside Academy (18-10) advanced to the semifinals against No. 4 seed Ascension Catholic (17-11) on Friday in Sulphur.
The winner of the game will advance to the finals Saturday against the victor in the matchup between No. 2 Glenbrook (23-6) and No. 14 St. Frederick (21-14).
