According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, Price said at his introductory press conference on Thursday that he made the decision to wear No. 8 beginning in 2026 to signify a new change for him.
“It was multiple factors,” Price said. “One of the numbers available but also I wanted a little change. New chapter in my life. Haven’t done single digits since I was like in little league. So, a new change. I thought it would be nice.”
Price wore Nos. 20 and 24 at Notre Dame. He was a standout running back at the powerhouse program, where he became recognized as the No. 2 running back in the 2026 NFL Draft class for his performance as a junior in 2025. Price rushed for 674 yards and 11 touchdowns last season before declaring for the draft.
Price will get the opportunity to put forth a season of note for the Seahawks in 2026, wearing No. 8 as a rookie for the defending Super Bowl champions.
