‘These are guys I’ve played with for a long time,” he said. “It’s really something I look forward to.”
He had just two bogeys during his 18 holes Monday. Those were offset by three birdies and an eagle.
The Eagle came on the 470-yard No. 13 hole. A strong drive and a sensational 8-iron put him in position to tap in.
“I hit the ball really good today, but missed a lot of putts,” he said. “I finished strong. I was 5-under on the last six holes.”
Bedford finished with a team score of 312, which was 10 stroke ahead of Airport.
Ida took third with 336, followed by Flat Rock 337, Monroe 338, Gibraltar Carlson 343, Erie Mason 345, St. Mary Catholic Central 346, New Boston Huron 348, Whiteford 349, Jefferson 367, Summerfield 373, Dundee 374 and Milan 377.
Hussein Salami and Oakley Morrow both shot 80 and Connor Urbanski added an 82 to join Guess on the All-County Team.
“We played pretty well – 312 is a pretty good score,” Reed said. “It’s close to our best.”
But Reed said the Mules need to shave about a dozen shots off that to have a chance to advance out of regionals to the state finals.
“We left some shots out there,” he said. “We’ve got a few little things to take care of. We had too many three putts.”
