Centreville track teams run away with John Green invite crowns

MENDON — The Centreville track and field teams dominated at the John Green Invitational hosted by Mendon on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldog teams each finished comfortably in first place. The boys racked up 214.25 points and the girls scored 161. Mendon finished second in the boys at 82.25, Union City was second for the girls at 126.5 points. Mendon's girls were fifth with 42 points, both Colon teams finished sixth overall with 29 points for the girls and 30 points for the boys.

The Centreville boys won 11 events.
DeAndre Stout ran to first place in the speed events. He won the 100 dash at 11.25 seconds and took first in the 200 at 23.38 seconds. Micaiah Sylvester posted a time of 55.72 seconds to win the 400 while Will Hulin won three individual races.
Hulin won the 800 at 2:04.04, the mile race at 4:34.78 and the two-mile run at 10:09.54.
The 800 relay saw the Bulldogs post a time of 1:36.08. The team of Jayden Hasse, Brayden Swanwick, Sylvester and Dylan Schwartz won that race. Centreville also won the two-mile relay. The team of Oliver Mildenberg, Riley Monson, Henry Sloat and Hulin ran a time of 8:44.51.
Matthew Bates won the throwing events. He posted a distance of 53-9 feet in the shot put and 164-3 feet in the discus.
Monson took first in the pole vault, clearing 10-6. Liam Hertlein was second in that event, clearing 10-0.
Brendan Sre ran to second in the 400 at 57.94 while Max Reed was second in the mile at 5:03.80. Reed also was second in the two-mile run in 10:47.96. Monson, Swanwick, Sylvester and Stout posted 3:37.65 for second in the mile relay.
Mendon's Dante Goto won the hurdle events. In the 110 hurdles, he scored a time of 16.92 and ran 46.47 in the 300 hurdles. Zak Iobe was second in the 300 hurdles at 46.98.
Mendon's mile relay team logged first place. The team of Xavior Zinsmaster, Kyron Truckey, Ryder Gorham and Owen Gorham clocked a time of 3:35.57. That same group finished second in the two-mile relay with a time of 8:48.00. In the 800 relay, the squad of Truckey, Iobe, Gorham and Gorham posted 1:36.25 for second.
The Hornets were second in the 400 relay. The team of Xavior Zinsmaster, Iobe, Gorham and Gorham ran a time of 46.84.
For Colon, Jabari Falls was second in the throwing events. He tossed 42-0 in the shot put and 140-0 in the discus event.
The Centreville girls won six events on Friday night. Kaylyn Coney ran to first place in the 400, her time was 1:05.94.
In the 400 relay, Coney helped Arianna Six, Berkley Shingledecker and Nevaeh Prichard win with a time of 52.90 seconds.
Centreville won the distance relays as well. In the mile, the team of Kate Hulin, Coney, Shingledecker and Ellie Reed won by more than 10 seconds with. time of 4:27.92. In the two-mile relay, the team of Hulin, Reed, Addison Johnson and Shingledecker posted 10:47.94 to win by nearly 30 seconds.
Lena Reed claimed first place in the shot put with a distance of 33-4 for a personal best. Mary Stears won the discus at 96-8, Kaylee Smith was second at 90-4. Matilda Roberts placed second in the high jump at 4-6.
Prichard was second in the 100 at 13.29, Shingledecker ran to second in the 400 at 2:26.30. Reed posted a time of 6:05.98 in the mile and Johnson was second in the two-mile run at 13:27.61.
Lily Preston of Colon won the long jump, clearing 14-5.
Mendon's 800 relay team of McKenzie Bakeman, Laney Buchanan, Brooklyn Marshall and Taylor Zinsmaster ran to second place in 1:57.12.
Braelyn Thaxton of Colon finished second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 54.88.
