Douglas Luiz potential Juventus opportunity after Aston Villa struggle

Amid reports Aston Villa won’t buy Douglas Luiz outright for €25m, it’s possible Juventus will try to revitalise the midfielder under Luciano Spalletti.

The midfielder was a huge flop after he was signed from Aston Villa in 2024 at a cost of €51m, lambasted as one of the club’s worst ever transfer signings.
He had loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, but neither Premier League club seems ready to buy him, even though Villa have an option worth €25m plus €3.5m add-ons.
Finding a buyer would be difficult at this stage, but Juventus might have other plans.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Spalletti believes Douglas Luiz could be the creative midfielder he is looking for.
The coach was not on the bench when the Brazilian last played in Turin, so is more inclined to give him a chance than previous bosses like Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor.
Considering Juventus finances will be tight this summer, saving money by using a player who already had so much investment poured into him would be advisable.
The player just celebrated his 28th birthday last week and is under contract with Juventus until June 2029.
Between his loans at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, he made 32 competitive appearances this season, with one goal and two assists.
