The Kansas City Royals turned to lefty Bailey Falter to kick off the contest against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. As a result, Boston rolled with a pretty odd — but productive — lineup.

Boston's lineup was the following: 

Having Andruw Monasterio at No. 5, Nick Sogard at No. 6, Carlos Narváez at No. 7, Isiah Kiner-Falefa at No. 8 and Caleb Durbin at No. 9 didn't necessarily bring optimism to the fanbase.

While this is the case, the lineup certainly worked. Boston broke out of its slump in a big way and took down the Royals, 7-1. On top of this, Kiner-Falefa and Durbin combined to rack up four base hits and an RBI. Kiner-Falefa went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Durbin went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Those arguably are the most shocking stats of the night. 

Boston's offense has struggled all over. It needs contributions from the bottom of the lineup if it's going to snap out of this. On Tuesday, both Kiner-Falefa and Durbin delivered when Boston needed them.
