Indoor Football League viewer's guide: IFL Cup Championship highlights Week 11 slate

· Yahoo Sports

After last weekend’s IFL Cup semifinal games, it all comes down to Sunday night, when the Arizona Rattlers (6-2) take on the Vegas Knight Hawks (6-1) for all the marbles in the IFL Cup championship game. This Western Conference showdown between the two top teams is also a matchup of the two most recent Indoor Football League champions.

"The league couldn't be more excited for Sunday's showdown between the last two IFL World Champions," Jared Widman, President of the IFL Business Division, told IFL.com. "Showcasing two of our marquee franchises on Yahoo Sports is exactly the type of national spotlight we envisioned when planning the IFL Cup. With the top two teams in the Western Conference set to collide, the stage is set for a premier showcase of The Indoor War as the IFL Cup takes center stage."

This matchup, following some dominant wins on both sides in the IFL Cup semifinal games, also carries some drama — the last time these two teams met, on May 3, Rattlers head coach Kevin Guy and his Knight Hawks counterpart, Mike Davis, got into an on-field altercation that included players from both teams. The Knight Hawks went on to win that matchup 56-42.

The two coaches appeared on Yahoo Sports Daily and seemed to squash the beef. “There’s no issue between me and Kevin,” Davis said. “It was really blown out of proportion.”

“We were having fun with it,” Guy said.

The Rattlers will surely be looking for some revenge after the way their last matchup went, and there’s a lot on the line with how close the two teams are in the standings.

"I think it's a bigger game for us than it is them," Guy said. "We can't afford to fall two games behind them with eight games to go. It's an important game. We have to come and be ready to play. We're playing some pretty good football right now but so are they. It's a match set up for two heavyweights to go at it."
