Sights and sounds from Day 1 of Commanders' OTAs

· Yahoo Sports

The Washington Commanders were finally back on the practice field on Wednesday for the first day of Organized Team Activities (OTAs). It was the first day of the offseason when coaches could see players on the field, running 7-on-7, 9-on-9, and 11-on-11 drills. That meant an opportunity for new Washington coordinators David Blough (offense) and Daronte Jones (defense) to implement their respective playbooks with on-field instruction.

The day began with some good news, with veteran stars like wide receiver Terry McLaurin and left tackle Laremy Tunsil in attendance. Both missed last year's voluntary OTAs for different reasons. McLaurin was at odds with the team over a contract extension, which was finally resolved before Week 1. As for Tunsil, it was common for him to skip the voluntary portion of the offseason program. After all, it was voluntary, and Tunsil would always show up in fantastic shape and play at an elite level.

Speaking of contracts, Tunsil received a two-year extension this offseason. For the third time in his career, Tunsil reset the offensive line market. Still, Tunsil didn't need to show up. He did. That's a win for Blough, as he tries to instill his new offense.

Here's Tunsil.

Let's take a look at some of the sights and sounds from Day 1 of Commanders' OTAs in Ashburn, courtesy of those in attendance.
