Falmouth boys tennis remains unbeaten with 18th straight win

The Blue Knights proved why they are ranked eighth in the MIAA Division 4 State Tournament.

Sandwich started their postseason with a 16-1 win over No. 40 Quabbin Regional on Sunday.
Joe Coughlan went six innings, scattered three hits, gave up one earned run and struck out nine on the mound. He was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Coughlan recorded his 100th career hit and has 218 strikeouts in his career.
Drew Peters and Luke Morrison both had three hits. J. Driscoll was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one double. Braylon Heatley, Tyler Jones and James Niemiec had two RBIs each.

Baseball
Div. 4, Round of 32: No. 5 St. John Paul II 16, No. 28 Bellingham 2: The Lions (15-5) won their first playoff game of the season in six innings.
Brian Mancinelli pitched five innings, allowed four hits, one earned run and struck out seven. Henry Roy (3-for-5, one double), Mancinelli (2-for-3, four RBIs, Ryan Amerault (3-for-4, two doubles, four RBIs), Sam Scioletti (2-for-4, two RBIs) and Luke Souza (2-for-4, two RBIs) led the offense.
Softball
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 2 Norton 13, No. 34 Nauset 0: The Warriors (15-5) snapped a five-game win streak. They beat No. 31 Hudson 17-8 in the preliminary round.
Boys Lacrosse
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 5 Falmouth 13, No. 28 Old Rochester 2: The Clippers (17-3) kicked off their playoff run with a home victory. They will face No. 12 Tewksbury in the Round of 16 on June 3.
Girls Lacrosse
Div. 4, Round of 16: No. 1 Sandwich 16, No. 17 Stoneham 2: The Blue Knights (17-3) are off to a strong start as they have outscored their first two playoff opponents 37-3.
Boys Tennis
Div. 3, Round of 16: No. 7 Falmouth 3, No. 10 Pentucket Reg. 2: The Clippers (18-0) maintained their unbeaten start with their 18th straight win.
Outdoor Track & Field
The MIAA Track and Field Championships came to a close on Sunday.
Division 3
Barnstable was the lone Cape and Islands team to compete in the MIAA Division 3 Track and Field Championship at Merrimack College.
Whitney Sousa placed fifth in the Girls 400m with a personal best time of 1:00.14, while Emily Steenstra placed 14th (1:02.40).
Division 4
Nauset was also the lone Cape and Islands team to compete in the MIAA Division 4 Track and Field Championship at Bridgewater State University.
Violet Roche placed third in the Girls High Jump with a season best jump of 5-00.00. She then finished eighth in the Girls Long Jump (16-08.75).
Diana Illusinova placed third in the Girls Javelin Throw (97-06), and came in 12th place in the Girls Shot Put (29-03.00).
Eloise MacMillian finished 11th in the Girls 400m (59.63).
MacMillian, Heather Campbell, Maeve Roche and Violet Roche finished sixth in the Girls 4X400M with a season best time of 4:11.02.
Xavier Andrulot finished 15th in the Boys Long Jump (19-00.75), while Parker Swain placed 20th (14-06.00).
Tristan Giangregorio-Emerald placed 15th in the Boys Javelin Throw (134-08).
James Silvernail placed 20th in the Boys Shot Put (38-07.75).
Billy Naughton finished in 18th of the Boys 400m (53.79).
Saturday
Boys Lacrosse
Div. 4, Round of 32: No. 8 Bourne/Mashpee 15, No. 25 Mount Greylock Reg. 1: The Canalmen (18-1) won their first playoff game since 2018.
Charlie Seitz (two goal, two assists), Jack Balfour (one goal, one assist), Brady Banks (three goals, three assists), Ty Hawkes (four goals), Sean Kelly (two goals, one assist), Max Ridl (two goals) and Henry Bonzagni (one goal) led the offense. Brody Haden and Mycah Hingston each had an assist. Nolan Scofield had five saves.
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 17 North Reading 11, No. 16 Nauset 10: The Warriors (7-12) came up just short in their opening roundup matchup. Jack Peno (three goals), Oscar Escher (two goals), Brendan Peno (one goal, one assist) led the offense. Jacob Eldredge, Noah Yerkes, Andrew Reeves and Eli Hill each notched one goal, while Samuel Mayhew and William Adams each dished out one assist.
Outdoor Track & Field
The MIAA Division 6 Track and Field Championship continued on Saturday at Westfield State University.
Bourne
Malachi Coelho placed seventh in the Boys Shot Put (47-07.25), which was good for 48th in the 2026 Massachusetts Outdoor High School Rankings.
Mashpee
Daniel Alade finished ninth in the Boys Long Jump with a leap of 20-07.50. Grey Auger placed 26th in the Boys Mile (4:49.78)
Emily Curtin placed 19th in the Girls Long Jump (13-07.50).
Monomoy
Sean Needham placed sixth in the Boys Long Jump with a jump of 21-02.50, while Davion Watson came in 20th (18-11.75).
Kade Stephens finished 23rd in the Boys Javelin Throw (129-07).
Jakob Conlon, Needham, Jonathan Sagesse and Alique Brown placed second in the Boys 4x100m with a season best time of 43.86, which was good for 38th in the 2026 Massachusetts Outdoor High School Rankings.
Quinn Muldoon, Chatham Gillis, Samuel Kelley and Nirvens Pierre placed fourth in the 4x800 with a season best time of 8:21.45.
Sagesse, Muldoon, Patrick Jordan and Pierre finished fifth in the Boys 4X400m with a time of 3:36. 42.
Lucy Corstese came in first place in the Girls 400m with a personal best time of 59.55, and was ranked 49th in the 2026 Massachusetts Outdoor High School Rankings.
Lucy Cortese, Alexa Ford, Zay-dah Thomas and Varvara Conley came in second in the Girls 4x100m with a season best time of 50.30, which was good for 20th in the 2026 Massachusetts Outdoor High School Rankings. That same team finished second in the 4x400m with a time of 4:11.16.
The team of Melaya Rose, Erin Guerard, Ella Baum and Teagan Lebedevitch placed 20th in the Girls 4x800m with a season best time of 11:04.28.
Sandwich
Iris Gaffney placed 18th in the Girls Long Jump (14-01.00).
Kylee Beaudoin finished 12th in the Girls Mile with a personal best time of 5.22.48, while her running mate Grace Smith was right behind her in 13th with a personal best time of 5:23.19. Ashlyn White placed 28th (5:46.81).
The team of Grace Chanya, Beaudoin, White and Smith placed sixth in the Girls 4x800m with a time of 10:18.71.
Alex Palomar Nelson finished 29th in the Boys Mile with a personal best time of 4:39.83.
Sturgis West
Tallulah Clifford placed 18th in the Girls Mile with a time of 5:28.46.
Hailey Partish Valencia, Myah Silva, Nettle Holmgren and Clifford came in 12th place with a season best time of 4:22.88.
