A 35-year-old employee of an armoured car company is accused of theft and is also facing several firearm charges more than a year after money was stolen from a vehicle during a cash drop-off in downtown Toronto.
Toronto Police Service said that on April 14, 2025, at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers responded to a theft from a motor vehicle call in the Yonge St. and Dundas St. E. area.
Police allege that two guards drove their armoured vehicle to a location to complete a cash drop-off. The guards exited the vehicle and entered the premises.
According to police, a suspect driving a white pickup truck pulled up beside the armoured vehicle. That suspect exited the truck and entered the front door of the armoured vehicle, which had been left unlocked. The suspect allegedly removed a quantity of cash before fleeing the area.
Employee allegedly involved
Police said officers from the Hold Up Squad assigned to the investigation were able to identify an employee of the armoured car company as allegedly being involved in the theft.
On May 13, cops said members of the Hold Up Squad executed a search warrant, located the suspect, and took him into custody.
Investigators further allege that officers recovered a firearm and other potential evidence during the search.
Dane Marson, of Brampton, was charged with theft over $5,000, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of a firearm without being the holder of a licence, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm while not being the holder of a valid licence, three counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon or prohibited device, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
