It has been known for a while that Antonio Rudiger has agreed a new contract with Real Madrid, accepting a one-year extension.

The deal is already completed and signed, even if we may have to wait a little longer for the official announcement.
Real Madrid are reportedly delaying the confirmation simply because of scheduling, with the club preferring to space out major announcements rather than release several pieces of news at once.
However, a recent report from AS confirms that the defender initially hoped to secure a longer agreement.
Rudiger accepts Madrid’s contract policy
During the discussion, it is said that the negotiations centred around one key issue: contract length.

According to the outlet, Rudiger would have preferred a two-year extension.
However, the 33-year-old ultimately accepted Real Madrid’s long-standing policy of offering only one-year renewals to players over the age of 30.
The defender is understood to have accepted the club’s position without creating any obstacles, recognising that the policy has been applied consistently over the years.
As a result, the new agreement will keep him at Real Madrid until the summer of 2027, when he will be 34 years old, marking his fifth season at the club since arriving from Chelsea in 2022.
Importantly, the one-year extension does not necessarily mean the end is approaching.

In fact, the report suggests that both parties are already open to revisiting the situation next summer if the relationship continues to progress positively.
Real Madrid trust Rudiger
Rather than pushing aggressively for a longer deal, Rudiger has prioritised continuity and the opportunity to remain part of Real Madrid’s project.
The German international remains one of the squad’s most influential leaders and continues to play a crucial role both on and off the pitch.
That commitment is particularly significant given the interest he has reportedly received from Saudi Arabia in recent years.
Financially, he may have been able to secure a more lucrative contract elsewhere, but his focus remains on continuing his story in Madrid despite the fact that Real Madrid will also sign Ibrahima Konate.
