Ewell, who’s from Springtown (TX) High School, is a productive 6-foot-2, 220 pound backer how committed to Houston at the beginning of June after taking his official visit to the school. Ewell flipped his commitment after he took an official visit to Tucson last weekend. He has played 2 seasons of varsity football at Springtown, totaling 24 games. Last year as a junior, Ewell racked up 148 tackles, 13 for a loss, 4 sacks and a fumble recovery. As a sophomore, he tallied 65 tackles, 4 TFL, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Of note, Ewell also competes in track and field in the 100 meter, 200 meter and long jump.

Ewell has 22 reported offers in his recruitment. He chose Arizona over Arizona State, Boston College, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisville, Memphis, Michigan State, Texas State and Wisconsin to name a few.

He is rated as a 3-star by 247Sports in both of its ranking systems. Internally, 247 has Ewell as the No. 95 LB and the No. 148 player in Texas. Ewell checks in as the No. 1,051 player nationally, the No. 92 LB and the 138th best player in Texas in the Composite.

Ewell is the eighth player from Texas in the 2027 class out of 11 total commitments and is the second linebacker, joining 3-star Davon Smith.
