Nobody in Scotland will be forgetting John McGinn’s name in a hurry, but Fabrizio Romano may need reminding of who he is.

McGinn scored the only goal of the game as Scotland won their first World Cup game in 28 years against Haiti.
Steve Clarke’s side had to dig in and McGinn was a vital part of their effort. He earned the man of the match award as a result, which led to Romano’s mistake.
Fabrizio Romano gets John McGinn’s name wrong
Romano is always on the go, writing about different players and managers, so sometimes makes a mistake here and there.
Unfortunately for him, he picked a big name to get wrong after he posted about McGinn’s man of the match award against Haiti.
Instead of calling him John, he called him Scott McGinn, which sparked some responses on social media.
Maybe he got him mistaken for defender Scott McKenna, who had to miss the game through injury.
At the time of writing, the tweet is still up, but he may edit it or delete it further down the line.
How John McGinn reacted to Scotland winner
It will be a day that the Aston Villa captain never forgets after scoring the goal to earn Scotland the three points and he hopes that it can act as an inspiration to supporters of the Tartan Army.
“It wasn’t my best of goals but who cares? It’s been a long time coming,” McGinn told BBC Sport. “I scuffed it a wee bit.
“Haiti are a decent team by the way. We had to work hard for it. Could we play a bit better? Aye. But it was a must-win game and we won. I’m absolutely over the moon.”
