QB Justin Herbert

All eyes will be on Herbert as he adapts to McDaniel’s offense. The focus is on quicker footwork, faster releases, and improved timing. Minicamp offers further insight into how comfortable he is with these changes.

OL Jake Slaughter

Veteran Kayode Awosika appears to be the early frontrunner for the starting left guard spot. Slaughter, the second-round pick, has received most of his snaps with the second team up to this point. Can he start to work his way with the first-team unit?

EDGE Akheem Mesidor

The first-round draft pick has flashed early on, drawing praise from coaches. Minicamp will reveal how quickly he absorbs O’Leary’s scheme alongside veterans Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu, and how he fares against NFL offensive linemen.

OTs Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt

Slater missed all of last year with a ruptured patellar tendon, while Alt was limited to six games before undergoing ankle surgery. Now moving very well in drills, their returns are vital to rebuilding the offensive line.

WR Brenen Thompson

With his 4.26 speed, Thompson is the leading candidate to solve the Chargers' desperate need for a vertical threat. Along with establishing deep-ball chemistry with Herbert, look for the rookie to potentially get some run as a return specialist.

LB Junior Colson

After a limited rookie season, Colson missed the entire 2025 campaign following major shoulder surgery. Now fully healthy, the third-year player is currently facing a steep climb up the depth chart and must fend off special-teams standouts like Marlowe Wax.
