Brutal news for Trout with ASG upcoming and a comeback season in the works.
Christian Moore is getting the call-up.
Trout has been the Angels’ best player this season, and has featured in 74 games this season. He has a 144 OPS+ on the year, hitting a team-high 17 homers and also leading the team with 36 RBIs. Additionally, Trout has scored 54 runs this year, which leads the American League.
The veteran’s great season has earned him plenty of All-Star shouts across the league, and as of the last voting update, he has the second-most votes of any outfielder in the American League behind Aaron Judge.
Trout has struggled with injury since the turn of the decade, missing extended time for the Angels on several occasions. In the past six seasons, Trout has only played 100 or more games twice.

The Angels have regularly sent Trout into the outfield alongside Jo Adell and Wade Meckler as of late, and will likely have Jose Siri take over while Trout is out.
Siri has a higher OPS+ than trout in a much smaller sample size, and they’ll hope he can continue to produce while becoming a regular.
This year, Siri has three homers and 12 RBIs through 50 at-bats, and has a .915 OPS on the year. While Siri is one of their options, Moore could also put in a shift as an outfielder if needed.
Moore is yet to appear in MLB this season, as he began the year in Triple-A after spending most of the final few months in the show last year. He played 53 games with the Angels last season, posting a .654 OPS with seven homers and 16 RBIs.
With Triple-A Salt Lake this season, Moore has a 1.053 OPS through 51 games, hitting nine homers and 45 RBIs—both of which surpass his numbers from last season in fewer games.
He has played nine games in left field this season, and has also filled in at third base in addition to his natural position at second. If Moore can stay hot at the plate and provide some positional versatility for the Angels this year, he could find himself with the team for the remainder of the season.
Can Christian Moore fill the hole Mike Trout left?
