The Giannis Antetokounmpo-Jaylen Brown trade rumors continue to dominate Boston Celtics-related headlines.

If the Celticsdon't end up acquiring the Milwaukee Bucks' two-time MVP in a trade this summer though, NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic reported Friday that Boston could have its eyes on another high-scoring forward.

"Boston could forge ahead with the Brown-Jayson Tatum dynamic duo and look for other ways to upgrade the frontcourt. To that end, league sources say the Celtics are among the many teams with interest in the New Orleans Pelicans’ Trey Murphy III (if they don’t land Antetokounmpo)," Amick wrote.

Longtime Boston media member Bill Simmons suggested in late May that New Orleans Pelicans small forward Trey Murphy III could be a potential trade target for the Celtics as well.

The former first-round pick turned 26 on Thursday and is coming off his best NBA season.

Murphy set career highs in points (21.5), rebounds (5.7), assists (3.8), steals (1.5) and minutes per game (35.5) across 66 games during the 2025-26 season. The 2021 17th overall draft pick was the highest scorer for the Pelicans last season, while pacing the group in minutes per contest as well.
