Zlatan Ibrahimović brutally dismisses Alexi Lalas amid apparent World Cup beef
· Yahoo Sports
The biggest beef of the 2026 World Cup may be in the TV studio, not on the pitch. Zlatan Ibrahimović and Alexi Lalas have verbally sniped each other throughout Fox's World Cup coverage, and Ibrahimović delivered an especially brutal blow Friday with Lalas out of the studio.
Before the UMSNT kicked off its game against Australia, Rebecca Lowe told Ibrahimović and Thierry Henry that Lalas left the studio to cover the action live from Seattle. Ibrahimović responded with a deadpan, "Who?" that had Lowe chuckling and Henry looking back at him dumbfounded. To cap it off, a grinning Ibrahimović closed the segment by saying, "America, you're welcome."

Why are Zlatan Ibrahimović and Alexi Lalas beefing?
Lalas ticked Ibrahimović off early in the World Cup by saying if Norway's Erling Haaland had a strong tournament, he could pass Ibrahimović in legendary status. Ibrahimović disagreed, naturally, and the tone's been off between them ever since. It doesn't help that Ibrahimović is considered one of the greatest players of all time, while Lalas went from being a solid if unspectacular defender for the U.S. to one of the sport's most reviled commentators.
In the postgame coverage of France vs. Senegal five days later, Ibrahimović slammed Lalas for suggesting France played arrogantly, responding, "It's not arrogance, it's confidence. Ignorant people will say it's arrogance, intelligent people will say it's confidence."

The "Who?" moment is only the latest example of iciness between the two. We'll see if any more drama is in store when the games get going again today.
