Lawrence, Kansas — that college town that his home to the University of Kansas — has been the Algeria national team's home base for the World Cup. And rather than just serving as a convenient stopover for Algeria (which had multiple matches in nearby Kansas City), Lawrence instead fully embraced everything about this Algerian squad.
The welcome had been so wholesome that the Algerian supporters even displayed a "Thank You Lawrence" banner at Saturday's Algeria-Austria game. But in addition to downtown watch parties, Lawrence threw Algeria an incredible welcome party after the thrilling draw to reach the Round of 32.

Just wow. Again, that's Lawrence, Kansas — not Algiers. This friendship can't end.
Fans were understandably loving what they saw from the people of Lawrence. That's what the World Cup is all about.
