Gary Trent Jr. will move on after two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to The Athletic, Trent declined to opt in to his deal with the Bucks, making him a free agent. The Journal Sentinel previously reported that the move was expected.

It makes sense for the sides to part ways. The Bucks are in a rebuild after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo and just drafted shooting guard Brayden Burries in the first round. The 27-year-old Trent can find a home with a team that needs a veteran shooter.

Trent played in 139 games with the Bucks over two seasons, making 30 starts. He averaged 9.7 points per game while shooting 39.1% on 3-pointers. Trent's minutes fell off dramatically in the last few months of the 2025-26 season.
