Lake Travis advances to Texas 7-on-7 semifinals

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Lake Travis advanced to the semifinals of the Division I bracket at the Texas 7-on-7 tournament Saturday in College Station before falling to eventual champ Keller Central.

The Cavaliers finished second to Cedar Hill in pool play, and then went on a run in the championship bracket with three consecutive wins before their semifinal loss. Lake Travis edged Liberty Christian 34-33 to open bracket play, and then took out PSJA North 27-19 to advance to the quarterfinals.

The Cavs stormed from 13 points down to shock Cy-Fair 28-27, advancing to the semifinals, and then Keller Central ended their run 27-14. Keller Central beat Allen 26-21 on the game’s final play to claim the state championship. Quarterback Isaiah Taylor was named the tournament’s MVP.

Lake Travis tight end Gage Prebenda-Wilson was named to the Division I all-tournament team, making this terrific catch to help the Cavs topple Cy-Fair.

Luca Antoun was also named to the all-tournament team for the Cavs.

Sark, Longhorns add quarterback recruit

Dripping Springs finished pool play undefeated, but fell in the first round of bracket play 42-20 to Mansfield Timberview. Bastrop had the same fate with a 26-18 loss to Keller Central after sweeping three pool play games. Cedar Ridge dropped its first bracket play game 35-34 to Cedar Hill.

Westlake picked up a win in the consolation bracket after going 1-2 in pool play. The Chaps beat North Forney, featuring Texas wide receiver pledge Briceson Thrower Jr., 32-12, before falling to Wichita Falls Legacy 27-19. Anderson, Round Rock and Weiss dropped opening games in the consolation bracket.
