Breaking down the Steelers picks in NFL Network's mock draft of current players
· Yahoo Sports
NFL Network writer Chad Reuter put together an interesting experiment when he did a seven-round mock draft using the current NFL rosters with the idea of winning now. We took a look at the picks for the Pittsburgh Steelers and there was definitely some good and some bad but the whole thing got off to a rough start.

Here are the Steelers picks.
- First round - EDGE Aidan Hutchinson
- Second round - QB Aaron Rodgers
- Third round - CB Trent McDuffie
- Fourth round - OT Jake Matthews
- Fifth round - WR Davante Adams
- Sixth round - S Talanoa Hufanga
- Seventh round - TE Dalton Shultz
I didn't look at every mock draft for every team but I feel confident saying this mock after makes the Steelers worse than the team they will field in 2026. Hutchinson isn't better than any of the Steelers three edge defenders; Rodgers is a push, I wouldn't trade Troy Fuatanu for Jake Matthews, Joey Porter Jr. or Jamel Dean for Trent McDuffie, DK Metcalf for Davante Adams or either of the Steelers tight ends for Dalton Shultz. The only upgrade here is Hufanga over DeShon Elliott.
Looking at this from the Steelers point of view, here's how we would have picked.
- First round - QB Bo Nix
- Second round - LB Micah Parsons
- Third round - OT Rashawn Slater
- Fourth round - WR Jaylen Waddle
- Fifth round - CB Joey Porter Jr.
- Sixth round - S Talanoa Hufanga
- Seventh round - TE Dalton Schultz
