Knicks targeted Hornets standout center before adding Andre Drummond

Following their first NBA championship since 1973, the New York Knicks were looking to make frontcourt additions after losing Mitchell Robinson in free agency to the Boston Celtics. New York ultimately settled on bringing in a rebounding specialist, veteran center Andre Drummond.
However, according to The Stein Line, the Knicks were "monitoring" the status of Charlotte Hornets center Moussa Diabate. Making just $2.4 million after winning the NBA Hustle Award last season, Diabate has produced well above his contract value.

He was a bright spot for Charlotte last season, bursting onto the scene, earning a starting role, and averaging 7.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.8 steals and one block per game. Diabate also finished among the league leaders in offensive rebounds, averaging 3.7 per game. Looking ahead to next year, Diabate could possibly average a double-double for the Hornets if he is able to add more polish to his offensive game.
