Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is preparing for the new NBA season with a fresh look.

The back-to-back NBA MVP debuted a new look in the offseason as he cut off his signature braids for a low-cut style for the summer. During practice, SGA wore an all-white look comprised of a fitted Nike tank top, shorts, and a wide headband.

"Bruh taking it back to Clipper days," one fan wrote.

"Bros in his Kobe era when he first cut the Afro off," another fan reacted.

A fan mentioned that he better have a better outcome in the 2026-2027 season or fans will believe he jinxed himself, " He better go off next year otherwise I’m we’re gonna say his braids gave him powers like Samson."

He also showed up to the 2026 FIBA World Cup qualifying game against Puerto Rico on Friday, July 3 in an all-black look. SGA wore a sleeveless shirt with a zipper and baggy jeans. He also carried a black bag and wore matching shades.

SGA led the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first-ever NBA championship. While OKC made it to the Western Conference Finals, they failed to beat the San Antonio Spurs.

"They were just the better team tonight, from start to finish," Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters following OKC's 111-103 loss in Game 7. "And then every time we tried to cut into it, and take control of the game, I felt like they had an answer. And a lot of times it felt like it was tough shot-making, so hats off to them."

SGA was named NBA MVP for a second straight year in a row, a feat that only a handful of NBA players have been able to accomplish in their careers.

While he dubbed last season a "failure," he is working overtime to improve on what the team can do to not repeat mistakes.

“I didn't get where I wanted to go this season,” he said to reporters last month. “There's a reason for that. Now I have to look at that reason and try to make sure it never happens again.”
