The round of 16 match between Mexico and England will kick off an hour later than scheduled because of storms in the area of the Estadio Azteca.

Kickoff now will take place at 7 p.m. Mexico City time, which is 9 p.m. ET and 2 a.m. in London.

El Tri's round of 32 contest with Ecuador was also subject to an hour-long weather delay with lighting strikes in the area and stormy conditions making it unsafe to start as planned.

The start time for the game was the subject of debate, with organizers nearly moving the kickoff to midday because of crowd safety concerns after four died in celebrations after Mexico's victory over Ecuador.

But after both federations expressed their opposition to the change, the original start time — 6 p.m. local — was maintained.

Once the match starts, Javier Aguirre will deploy the same starting lineup he did in the 2-0 win over Ecuador with 17-year-old Gilberto Mora once again starting in the midfield as a creative player and Julian Quiñones, El Tri's leading scorer at the World Cup, on the left wing.

England, meanwhile, makes three changes with Jarell Quansah stepping in at right back while Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon come in on the wings.
