Search Enters Third Day For Two Youths Swept Away At Pandavkada Waterfall; Rescuers Recover Only Severed Leg

Navi Mumbai: The search operation for two youths who were swept away in separate drowning incidents at Pandavkada Waterfall in Kharghar entered its third day on Sunday, with rescuers recovering only a severed leg suspected to belong to one of the missing victims. The bodies of both youths are yet to be traced.

Rescue Hampered by Weather
Fire Brigade personnel and Kharghar police have been conducting an intensive search since Friday evening. However, heavy rainfall, a strong water current and difficult terrain have continued to hamper rescue efforts.
The two victims, Mohammad Mobashir Mohammad Shahid (20), a resident of Sagar Vihar Building near Janata Garage in Taloja Phase I, and Shennon Gaspar Kini (19), a resident of Kalina Kobaviri Village in Santacruz, Mumbai, were swept away in two separate incidents on Friday evening and Saturday morning, respectively.

Kharghar Fire Officer Saurabh Patil said the recovered body part is suspected to be that of one of the two missing youths, but its identity cannot be confirmed until the bodies are recovered. "It is suspected to be of one among the two missing persons. However, confirmation will be possible only after the bodies are recovered," Patil said.
Authorities have urged tourists to avoid visiting waterfalls and other overflowing water bodies during the monsoon, as sudden surges in water flow can prove fatal.
