3 NBA teams who are most improved entering 2026-2027 season
· Yahoo Sports
The NBA looks a lot different than it did when last season ended. Stars have changed teams, contenders have added depth, and several franchises have completely retooled their rosters. While there’s still time for more moves, these three teams have done the most to improve themselves and enter the 2026-27 season looking far more dangerous than they did just months ago.

Philadelphia’s biggest move of the off-season was acquiring Jaylen Brown in exchange for Paul George and a few draft picks. Brown is coming off the best season of his career and is in the midst of his prime.
The Sixers lost key players in Quentin Grimes, Andre Drummond, and Kelly Oubre, but added great depth to their roster. They acquired a lockdown defender in Dean Wade and a proven scorer in Anfernee Simmons. If the team can manage to sign LeBron James, they might be the favorite to win the NBA championship.
Trailblazers

Mandatory Credit: Petre Thomas-Imagn ImagesThe Trailblazers were a surprising team last season; they finished as the seventh seed in the Western Conference without Damian Lillard. Lillard missed the entirety of their season with a torn achilles tendon, so Deni Advija and Shaedon Sharpe stepped up to the plate. Scoot Henderson also took a step forward, and Donovan Clingan proved to be one of the best rebounding bigs in the NBA.
Portland adds Ja Morant to that roster. Morant, a former MVP candidate in 2022, hasn’t been able to stay on the court but has proven to be a problem when healthy and available. Ja is still only 26, and pairing him with Damian Lillard might put them in serious contention.
Detroit Pistons

Mandatory Credit: Rick Osentoski-Imagn ImagesDetroit is coming off of a season where they finished first in the East, so how could they improve? Detroit had an incredible regular season, yet teams weren’t threatened by them come the postseason. The 8th seed magic took them to seven in the first round, before they got swept in the second. Nonetheless, the season was impressive, but there was obvious room for improvement.
So, the team addressed those issues by trading for John Collins and Isaiah Joe, two great pieces that fit the team’s timeline and upgrade the roster. They acquired depth in Taurean Prince and Gary Harris, two veterans who add leadership and reliable depth. If they retain Jalen Duren, they should be in a far better position than last season.
