Sources said the Parliament session will begin on July 20 and the government does not want any embarrassment. A final decision is likely to be taken by the Prime Minister after July 12, once he returns from his foreign trip.

The PMO has reportedly asked all ministers to reduce the number of personal staff members. Ministers have been advised to discontinue additional appointments wherever possible. Some ministers currently have at least four members in their personal staff.

Wayanad Tunnel landslide: Kerala halts construction, orders probe and greenbelt audit

Sources said a high-level committee comprising senior state bureaucrats is being formed to conduct a comprehensive safety and environmental audit of major infrastructure projects near sensitive green belts.
