· Yahoo Sports
There is no denying that Miami Dolphins center Aaron Brewer is one of the best at his position. His performance in 2025 led to a nomination for the newly added Protector of the Year award, which recognizes the top offensive linemen in the NFL.

Brewer was ranked the second-best center on Pro Football Focus, with an overall grade of 87.4, which includes a top-ranked 91.5 run blocking grade. Despite being near the top of his position, he barely cracked ESPN's top 10 interior linemen ranking, coming in at No. 10 officially.
Jeremy Fowler compiled votes from NFL scouts, coaches, and executives, and the publication has been ranking every position one-by-one. Despite guards and centers being different positions, they were lumped together, and Brewer made the list.
"Evaluators have marveled at Brewer's development. One NFC scout recalled listing him at 6-foot-1, 274 pounds coming out of Texas State in 2020. Brewer went undrafted. Six years later, he became a second-team All-Pro and earned a three-year, $52.5 million extension," the ranking states.
To Brewer's credit, he is one of three centers on the list. Ahead of him are Kansas City Chiefs' Creed Humphrey and Las Vegas Raiders' Tyler Linderbaum.
Brewer has become a huge success story in the NFL, as he went from being an undrafted free agent to seeing his first starting season as a center in 2023. One year was all it took, and the Dolphins came calling.
Since arriving in Miami, Brewer has established himself as one of the best at his position and a huge anchor for the Dolphins' offensive line. His ascension led to a three-year, $52.5 million contract extension.
Brewer has also been integral to the success of running back De'Von Achane, who also received a multi-year extension, tying the pair to one another for multiple years. With a dedication to the run game certain in 2026, it makes sense why the Dolphins have signed both to new deals.
Brewer also spoke on his own personal goals, stating that he plans to win the Protector of the Year award in 2026, and hopes that another fellow Dolphins line can be nominated.
Left tackle Patrick Paul is the likely next lineman on the team who could work himself into that award.
Should the line be able to produce two players on the Protector of the Year award, this could mean the Dolphins line may be one of the best in 2026. With players like Brewer, that is certainly a reality.
