With their loss to Argentina on Wednesday, June 15, Harry Kane and the English national team have been eliminated from World Cup contention. The Brits have been praying for a World Cup title ever since their last in 1966. However, time and time again, they've come up short.
However, their journey in the 2026 World Cup is not over with the loss.

Despite losing a 1-0 lead in the final five minutes of regular time, the English still have one game left on their schedule: the third-place match against France, who lost to Spain on Tuesday.
While it certainly wouldn't be the same as winning a World Cup title, the English national team has a chance to avenge themselves with a win over Kylian Mbappé and the French.
Is England eliminated?
While England can no longer contend for the World Cup title, they do have one more game on their schedule. By virtue of losing in the semifinal, England has earned a spot in the third-place game against France.
That game will take place on Saturday, July 18 at 5 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
